Larkin Precision Molding
A 2011 one-page site marked "under construction", with a 14 MB PDF catalogue, for a molder trying to win contracts with automotive and appliance OEMs.
- Sector
- Custom plastics injection molder
- Location
- Grand Rapids, Michigan, US
Before
The situation
Larkin is a fictional injection molder in Grand Rapids with eighteen presses and a customer list across the Midwest. Its next step is direct contracts with automotive and appliance OEMs, whose purchasing teams audit suppliers online long before they visit.
The old site is a single page from 2011, still marked “under construction”, with a 14 MB PDF catalogue as the only detail. It says the company has an ISO certificate. It does not show it. It says to send requests by email or fax.
The redesign treats the website as the first supplier audit. The spec sheet is on the home page. Certificates are documents, not claims. The quotation form takes drawings. The careers page speaks to the technicians the company needs next.

What it was costing them
Hiring
Setters and process technicians are scarce in western Michigan. The site had no careers page at all, and the only mention of jobs was a line saying to call the office.
Credibility
A purchasing engineer at a tier-one supplier landing on a page that says "under construction" since 2011 does not send a request for quotation. The ISO certificate was mentioned but not shown.
Quote requests
The only way to get a price was email or fax. No form, no file upload for drawings, no stated response time.
After
What the redesign does
A capabilities spec sheet on the home page, press range, shot weights, materials, secondary operations and batch sizes, the facts a buyer needs before they bother to write.
Certifications shown as documents, with material certificates and measurement reports offered per batch.
A request-for-quotation form that accepts STEP, IGES and PDF files and promises a reply within three working days.
A careers page with the real openings and the paid apprenticeship, written for the people who will actually apply.

What you would notice
Not promises of numbers. The changes a company like this would see once the site is doing its job.
- Requests for quotation come in with drawings and annual quantities attached, from buyers who have already read the spec sheet.
- Supplier audits start from the certifications page instead of a chain of emails asking for PDFs.
- Setter and technician applications arrive through the site, including from people who were not actively looking.
